VCSC #3: February 2026

Welcome to the third release of the Vineyard Cellar Select Club! Wow! February's selections are going to set a high bar for the rest of the year! We've got a dynamic duo paired up this month, one French and one Spanish but both coming from their respective sides of the Pyrenees Mountains. The vineyards in the foothills of the mountains south of Bordeaux and in the rolling hills of Galicia have been home to winemaking for centuries but have been overlooked in favor of their more famous neighbors as of late.

Join Now!, or call or email us at the shop to learn more and get on the list.

Only 2 spots available this month due to the limited production of these wines!

February Selections

2023 Domaine Bellegarde Pierre Blanche Jurançon Sec   &   2024 Envinate Lousas Doad

Domaine Bellegarde is one of only 65 wineries in the small but historic Jurançon A.O.P. in southern France, on the outskirts of Pau at the base of the Pyrenees Mountains due south of Bordeaux. Here, the Labasse family tends to their 12 hectares (29.5 acres) of organically farmed indigenous varieties of the region: Petit Manseng, Gros Manseng and Camaralet. These varieties are rarely found outside of the region and the resulting wines are reminiscent of Chenin Blanc or Riesling, combining intense tropical fruit and wild savory notes. Peirre Blanche is one of the estate's dry wines, a blend of Petit and Gros Manseng that is medium- to full-bodied, with complex layers of ripe citrus, stone fruits, candied and fresh ginger and a firm mineral backbone. The acidity is intense, giving life to this characterful white that is equally happy on the table now alongside a Chinese chicken salad or resting in the cellar for a decade. If you enjoy textural, intense, thought-provoking whites this is a wine for you.

Envinate is a group of four friends who met while in winemaking school in 2005. Roughly translating to 'Wine Yourself', Envinate's focus is on the Atlantic-influenced vineyards of coastal Spain. Perhaps most well known for their bottlings from the steep cliffs and Mars-esque landscape of the Canary Islands, Doad is a blend of selected parcels from the village of Doad in Ribera Sacra, where the Lousas soils (a type of slate comm0n in vineyards in the area) give a mineral edge and energy to the wines. Here Mencía is the grape of choice (an indigenous variety that drinks like a spicy Gamay or Pinot Noir) and makes up 90% of the blend, with the remaining 10% comprised of a smattering of local varieties such as Garnacha Tintorera, Brancellao, Merenzao and Grao Negro. As with all Envinate wines, the grapes were hand harvested and fermented and aged using native yeasts and old-school, traditional winemaking techniques to preserve the natural character and freshness from vineyard to glass.
